UW-Madison’s PEOPLE (Pre-College Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence) program received a $35,000 donation from AT&T today to support the program’s mission to help underserved students prepare for and successfully complete higher education.
PEOPLE has provided educational opportunities for the past 17 years, preparing low-income and minority students in Wisconsin for college. The program has expanded from 66 students at its inception to more than 1,300 students today.
"My vision is for PEOPLE students to graduate globally competitive in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and math), entrepreneurship and international relations. To achieve this, however, will require us to expand access to the funding, internships and support systems that make such opportunities possible." —Jackie DeWalt, Jan. 26, 2007
