Celebrating 25 Years of PEOPLE: A Legacy of Opportunity
For a quarter of a century, the PEOPLE Program transformed lives, opened doors, and built brighter futures for low-income and first-generation college students. What began as a bold vision to level the playing field in higher education grew into a thriving community of scholars, educators, and advocates—all united by the mission of preparing students for success at UW-Madison.

Honoring the Journey, Embracing the Future
The 25th Anniversary Celebration brought together alumni, students, mentors, and supporters to reflect on the program’s legacy and the thousands of lives it has shaped. Guests enjoyed an elegant dinner while reconnecting with peers and celebrating the impact of the PEOPLE Program. The evening featured moments of reflection and memory sharing, with inspiring stories from students, alumni, and program leaders who have been part of this journey. A highlight of the night was the presentation of scholarships to exceptional students, recognizing their achievements and supporting their academic aspirations.
This milestone anniversary was more than just a celebration—it was a testament to the power of access, opportunity, and unwavering support. As attendees looked back on 25 years of success, they also embraced the future, reaffirming the commitment to expanding opportunities for future generations. The PEOPLE Program’s legacy continues to inspire, and its impact will be felt for years to come.
