J.J. Andrews is an Assessments & Data Specialist with PEOPLE at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. J.J. specializes in finding the ways in which grades and academic scores are empowering for students when used as personal development measurements (growth mindset) rather than being used exclusively as value-based measurements (fixed mindset). Messaging gaps about the purpose of academic measurements (extrinsic vs. intrinsic) promote student disengagement at all levels, especially among underrepresented student populations. J.J. has an Ed.D. in Leadership | Curriculum & Instruction, M.A. in English | Instruction, and B.A. in English | Rhetoric & Critical Theory.
