Olubukola (Bukky) Leonard is the Math Educational Content Specialist for PEOPLE, a position she has held since August 2015. In this role, she designs and implements the mathematics curriculum for the program’s after-school sites during the academic year, while also supervising the Academic Leads at Milwaukee’s in-person ACE Sites. During the summer, she supervises high school math instructors who teach at PEOPLE’s Summer University.

Originally from Prince George’s County, Maryland, Bukky holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Howard University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus on Math Education at UW-Madison. Her research focuses on exploring the narratives of young girls of color and their engagement with math and STEM subjects in out-of-school environments.

Bukky is married with two daughters. She is an active Girl Scout mom, involved in her children’s PTO, and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She also enjoys cooking, sewing, crafting, and watching her favorite shows during her rare moments of downtime.
